Author and illustrator Devin Elle Kurtz, best-known for her work on the show “Disenchanted” and for Marvel and Disney, will be doing a live reading of her debut picture book at People’s Book. A young dragon who isn’t very good at scaring humans discovers a passion for baking and learns a valuable lesson.

25th Annual National Book Festival

Girls in STEM: Building Better

Designed for girls in grades 6-8 and led by “Miss Silver Spring” winner Ashley Purcella, this program is meant to teach participants about the important work that a civil engineer does through fun, hands-on projects. It’s a great way to start off the school year!
