The magazine earned three silver awards and three bronze awards across several writing and design categories. Staff writer Zoe Bell received a silver award in the category “Child Development & Parenting Article” for her piece “What to Know About Instagram Teen Accounts,” which explained one of the social media website’s latest safety features for young users.

“This piece provides a smart, useful service to parents trying to determine what they should and shouldn’t let their kids do in the social media world,” the PMA judges explain.

Other recipients of silver awards included Eric D. Goodman for his article “A Stroll Through Time: Exploring Baltimore County’s Hampton Mansion” in the “Travel” category, as well as designer Frank Wagner, who was honored in the “Department Design” category for Washington Family‘s “Wellness” column. Wagner’s designs are best viewed in our Digital Magazine Archive.

Washington Family also received three bronze awards: one for “Special Section Within a Publication” for the “100 Days of Summer” special section, one in calendar design for the calendar section, designed by Wagner and designer Lonna Koblick and one in the “Special Section” design category for the art department’s work on the “Big Book for Families” issue.
