When you visit, be sure to pay your respects at The National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial located across the street from the museum. The memorial is the nation’s monument to the more than 24,000 law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty; each name has been hand-engraved over the span of 30 years. Every May, National Police Week occurs, and the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund holds ceremonies, including the annual Candlelight Vigil in Washington, D.C., honoring the fallen officers whose names have recently been added to the Memorial.
