Summer allows teens in high school to get a head start on their education before the fall. Whether it’s extra courses for enrichment or prep for college applications, there are lots of options in the nation’s capital.

Collegevine.com lists a variety of interest-specific programs in Washington, D.C. that either give students college credit or early experience in a college-level course, such as a summer drama institute at Catholic University of America from July 7 through July 25 that focuses on skills in the arts and preparing students for college auditions.

These programs mostly range from no cost to about $6,000, with some programs adding to that for room and board:

For families who are prepared to pay a higher tuition, there are some programs that are completely dedicated to college application prep like Command Education’s in-person College Application Booster Camp, from Aug. 18 to Aug. 22, which allows students to work with Ivy League grads one-on-one to help them stand out on college applications, focusing on tools such as LinkedIn, professional headshots and talks from high-level speakers from D.C. Interested families can complete an intake form: commandeducation.com/contact-us.

Georgetown University has a similar program (though the application period is already closed for this year), which focuses on SAT and ACT prep and college admissions.
