Some of its more unique offerings include the Berger Cookie Pie, which is made with what Marylanders will recognize as Baltimore’s famous Berger cookie, and the Samoa Cookie Pie, which incorporates Girl Scout cookies.

Another highly acclaimed pie shop, Livin’ the Pie Life was named the best pie shop in Virginia by Delish and one of the best things to do in Washington by Washingtonian Magazine in 2022. It’s a very popular place for ordering holiday pies, with the days before Thanksgiving often selling out well in advance. Try the Pumpkin Chiffon for a lighter, fluffier take on pumpkin pie or the Apple Caramel Crumb, which uses locally-grown apples.

While a classy restaurant may not be what immediately comes to mind when shopping for holiday pies, 1789 holds a Thanksgiving bake sale each year. Place an order before Nov. 19 to pick up a pumpkin or pecan pie, as well as some other unique desserts like the Apple Cider Cheesecake and Maple Bourbon Chocolate Chip Cookies, at Fitzgerald’s in Georgetown.

Rise Bakery

Rise Bakery takes the stress out of entertaining guests with dietary restrictions with a full gluten-free menu, as well as vegan, soy-free and nut-free options. The pie selection includes pecan pie, apple pie and a vegan variant of the latter, and there’s plenty of other gluten-free desserts to try. The bakery requests that large orders be made at least 48 hours in advance.
