It’s that time of year again, it’s raining rainbows! Pride month commemorates the Stonewall Riots of 1969, a turning point in the history of LGBTQ+ rights. While there are an abundance of pride events throughout June, sometimes it can be a challenge to determine which ones are family-oriented. We’ve done the hard work for you. Here are five places you and your family can celebrate Pride and LGBTQ+ identities.

Takoma Pride

June 11, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. | The Streetery, 6929 Laurel Ave., Takoma Park, MD 20912

Stretch your legs bright and early with a 10 a.m. Kids’ Pride Parade! The parade will be followed by face painting, a pride photo board and a drag queen story time with Ms. Hazel. Families can expect to be inspired with a love for reading while kids learn lessons of self-acceptance, diversity and respect.
