New York Times bestselling picture book illustrator Peter H. Reynolds will be visiting Sargent Shriver Elementary School in Silver Spring, Maryland on March 5 with An Open Book Foundation to share his most recent illustrations for “The Reflection in Me,” a book by Marc Colagiovanni tackling the anxiety and self-doubt kids often experience when they receive messaging that says they should look or act a certain way.

Both fathers, Reynolds and Colagiovanni were inspired by experiences with their own children. What started as a loving poem to Colagiovanni’s daughters to show them how he truly saw them turned into an animated short by Reynolds that received nearly 2 million views on YouTube and inspired the pair’s latest book.
