What Great Parents Do

This book was written by Erica Reischer, Ph.D., and gives 75 strategies for raising great kids. I found this to be an absolute great resource and reference for all age groups.

The book contains short chapters which makes it easy to read. It really got me thinking about how I parent and how I would like to parent my child as he grows. I love how straightforward and easy it is to follow through with the strategies.

This book gives tips on how to raise children and how to handle children when an issue arises. You can easily flip from chapter to chapter to find one that best applies to your current situation. The author not only gives us these strategies to use in our every day parenting life, but uses them in hers, so it’s reassuring to know her methods are tried and true.

I feel this book is a parenting must-read. It reminds you of the joys and hard work of parenting but also reiterates that parenting really is a blessing despite the challenges we face. It also offers calm approaches to unwanted behavior and ways to successfully get the behavior you want out of your child. One of the things I love is at the end of each chapter it gives you a “try this” with great tips.

I would certainly recommend this book to any and all parents.
