Valley Mill Day Camp has been serving families in the Washington D.C. area since 1956, combining closeness to home with the atmosphere of an away camp. Valley Mill is located outside of Potomac Maryland, on more than sixty acres of deep woods, and surrounding a two acre spring fed lake. The Camp provides ample space for a vigorous camp program for both boys and girls. Counselors are selected for character and values that make them excellent role models. They care about the children and the camp, and lead the activities with a spirit of fun. Valley Mill emphasizes the development of group cohesiveness and resilience through outdoor challenges. Many children attend Valley Mill year after year, finding increased and deepened experiences each time.
In addition to the Day Camp program, Valley Mill also offers a robust Day Trip program for advancing paddlers, run by Ashley Nee, a USA Olympian and Valley Mill’s Kayak School Director. For more experienced campers aged 10-14, Adventure Camp is an optional program offering a combination of day trips and overnight trips with activities ranging from hiking, camping, fishing to whitewater rafting.
