World Sing-Along CD Offers Great
Music for a Great Cause
While the songs on the World Sing-Along CD are performed in several different languages, I really did feel that I could sing along to them with their catchy tunes and repeated phrases. My children and I loved the upbeat music! And after listening a few times we were singing along with the musicians.
The CD features 11 songs from around the world including “La Cucaracha” from El Salvador/USA, “Waltzing Matilda” from Australia, and “Jig Jog Gee” from Jamaica/USA. I felt that the CD did a great job of spacing the songs so that a familiar or English song played almost every other song. Some of the versions on the CD also have English portions so that the listener knows what the song is about even though the bulk of the song is performed in a foreign language.
My background of speaking both English and Spanish helped me understand the English, Spanish and Portuguese songs, but a knowledge of other languages is not required because my children who do not speak Spanish enjoyed the CD just as much as I did.
The final song on the CD is “Around the World” and is performed by the Pihcintu Multicultural Children’s Choir which is made up of mostly girls from war torn regions. Knowing the background of these children made the CD even more meaningful as it speaks to us for peace and unity throughout the world, especially for children.
Some of the proceeds from the sale of the CD are being donated to Population Services International (PSI) to support the Five & Alive campaign which works to ensure that all children have a healthy start to life, regardless of where they are born.

I completely recommend this CD: the fun and kid friendly music exposes children to other cultures and languages while the money you spend buying the CD goes to help children throughout the world. This CD has become a favorite to listen to and sing along with in the car!
