In addition to visiting the museum and embarking on a self-guided tour, attendees can take part in fun linguistic games and activities, listen to talks from expert curators and participate in live experiments.

Science, Costumes & Community: Spooky Mad Science Expo Turns 10!

Learn something new at this spooky celebration of all things STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics)! This popular event is celebrating its 10th anniversary but still has plenty of surprises in store. Kids can take part in more than 100 experiments, march in a STEAM-themed parade and take pictures with their favorite “Star Wars” characters. Costumes are encouraged!

The 42nd Washington Folk Festival

This free event is a great opportunity to learn about the diverse cultures that call the DMV area home. Performers across five stages will perform folk music and dances from around the world, from Hawaii to Ireland! There will also be plenty of food from area food trucks, so families can have a picnic while enjoying the show.
