To sparksome table talk, set out homemade place mats adorned with fun facts about yourdinner companions. A few weeks beforehand, e-mail guests, asking them to revealtheir favorite books and movies, high points of the past year, and otherintriguing little facts.
Then have the kids help make them into placemats, each place mat for each family member coming to dinner! Use glitter, leaves, construction paper and markers to create a handmade, fun way to get conversations flowing. Don’t forget to leave off the names of each person connected to the facts…that’s when the fun conversation can start! Then laminate the mats at a copy shop.
Afterward,guests can take the mats home as souvenirs of a memorable gathering!
