Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Flingers Bo Staff-Throwing Donatello
There are now four new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle figures – flingers. We were given a Donatello to review. The right arm of the figure is spring loaded so Donatello could reach back, grab a bo staff and fling it -hence the name flingers. The left arm and head also move. The legs do not move. Instead there are rollers on the bottom of the feat for the figure to roll side to side on. The figures are sturdy. The box says they are for children four years old and older.
Both of my sons lost interest in it quickly. That is probably because neither one of my boys could figure out how to make it work. I even tried to figure it out and I could not figure out how to use it either. When I placed the bo staffs in the back pack they would fall right out. So I guess I would have to say I am not smarter than a four year old! They played with it once maybe twice and now it is lost among the way too many toys we have in this house. The three bo staffs that come with the toy were almost immediately lost as well.
Perhaps you will have better luck figuring out how to make it work. The figure would probably be more entertaining if it actually flung the weapons. The figure is sturdy so I don’t anticipate it breaking quickly. There are five pieces total: the figure, the detachable backpack and the three bo staffs. Other than that three small bo staffs there aren’t many small pieces to get lost which is a bonus and makes it easy to travel with. However, I would anticipate the bo staffs being lost so that is why I did not give it a five for traveling well. I would not buy them for myself or as a gift because there are other teenage mutant ninja turtle figure toys that probably have all four limbs moveable. Perhaps one of the other four turtles flinging action would work better but we could not figure out Donatello in my house. Perhaps better instructions would have helped also.
