Romantic Escape to Keswick Hall

Nestled between the hillssurrounding the place Thomas Jefferson once called home is a rustic, romanticoasis. This perfect escape sits only a few hours outside the hustle and bustleof city life, and exists along back roads where the term “rush hour” has noplace.

When arriving at KeswickHall, guests know they are in for a treat. It is immediately clear why Condé NastTraveler rated it ‘Number 1Top Small Resorts in the Mainland USA.’ The outside entrance is reminiscent ofan intimate Italian villa, complete with a beautiful fountain and vineyard nextdoor. Inside, an inviting fireplace burns and it feels strangely like home; ifhome were a mansion and you were royalty, that is.

The concierge greets guests, and invites them to join a winetasting on the terrace, where they can taste local favorites while enjoying theview of the Southwest Mountains. After the tasting, it is time for dinner atthe resort’s pride and joy, Fossett’s. I had read rave reviews of theprestigious restaurant, but I was fully unprepared for the beauty, elegance andclass Fossett’s is widely known for. Seated in front of the massive panoramicwindow overlooking the sunset, I couldn’t imagine a more perfect spot for aromantic dinner.

Fossett’s wine menu is expansive and items from the dinnermenu are just as impressive. Chef Dean Maupin’s dishes are made from locallygrown produce and have a wide variety of options to choose from, includingitems like butternut squash soup, French onion tarts, gnocchi with asparagus, eggplant Parmesan, polenta, and Grand Mariner blackberry pistachio soufflés. Themorning’s room service options continue to bathe guests in luxury, while lunchat Villa Crawford’s expansive terrace buffet rounds out the savory delights.

When not relaxing on the terrace or feasting on gourmet meals, guests can receive a healing full-body massage at the resort spa. For moreactive endeavors, try Keswick Hall’s signature golf course redesigned by ArnoldPalmer.

While the trip makes an amazingly perfect romantic getaway,Keswick Hall also offers fun for the entire family. The little ones canparticipate in the Kids Only Program, where they’ll be given snacks, funactivities and access to all the site’s amenities (like their family pool andtennis courts!) Keswick Hall understands that family isn’t limited to moms, dads, and children, so they welcome pets as well! Staff members will even walkand check on your dog while you’re away.

Whether you decide to bring your family or slip away for theweekend with your honey, this indulgent getaway will be an experience you’llnever forget.
