Mom Review: Ticonderoga Farms, Chantilly, Virginia

Filled with bright orange pumpkins and crisp fall leaves, Ticonderoga Farm is a fantastic, family-friendly pumpkin patch. Located in Chantilly, it’s close enough to be convenient, yet it has a definite rural feel to it.

I was pleasantly surprised at the many unique activities they have to choose from, all included in the modest entry fee. They have an enormous jump-and-bounce pillow. This activity is outdoors so children can jump and be active all while being in the fresh air. A new twist of the usual enclosed, air-bounce houses. They have ponds on their property, one of which has a really long swinging bridge. Just walking across is a cool adventure for kids … and adults. Also a teepee Indian village and a giant bamboo xylophone!

Of course they have the come to expect hillside slides. They have several different levels for very young children to teens and adults. I noticed the lines were not as long as at other farms and, in general, Ticonderoga has a more relaxed, less hectic feel to it. I really enjoyed that aspect.

They also have some of the more traditional pumpkin patch activities. They have petting farm animals and play areas for younger children. They have hayrides, great for all ages.

If you’re hungry, they have fair-style food like hot dogs, pizza, turkey legs, cotton candy, popcorn and nachos. If you’d rather, you can bring your own picnicstyle lunch. They have many wellmaintained picnic tables to enjoy whatever lunch you choose. If you are in the mood for s’mores, they have fire pits so you can roast marshmallows and make smores. Bring your own fixings or buy them at the market. Speaking of market, they sell jams and jellies, organic antibiotic free eggs from their very own freerange hens. They also sell their awardwinning organic honey from their own hives.

As you exit you get to choose a small pumpkin as a cute souvenir of your wonderful day. Along with all of your special memories of family time spent together at Ticonderoga Farm.
