Both of my children love listening to music during the day – in the car, while we play in our basement, and even during meals. With a variety of options available in the children’s genre of music, the overly “kid-centric” lyrics can get a bit tiresome, even for the children themselves. Kidz Bop provided a refreshing change to our daily lineup .
Kidz Bop 28 is the latest in the Kidz Bop series. Kidz Bop “records kid-friendly versions of today’s biggest pop music hits.” They release four albums a year, so the music is usually quite up-to-date. Even though I am not completely on trend with the latest pop music, I did recognize quite a few of the songs, as did my 4 year-old, from current radio playlists. Some of our favorites were “Uptown Funk” and “Steal My Girl,” originally by Mark Ronson and One Direction, respectively.
The Kidz Bop series does a great job editing the lyrics of the songs to be 100 percent appropriate for children while keeping the original song intact. I was very grateful for this, as my son loves the beats and melodies of pop songs but does not need to be exposed to some of the inappropriate/explicit language or references that are made in today’s lyrics. The children they hire to sing these albums are very talented and put out a great tune.
We found ourselves dancing and singing along to this CD as soon as we put it on. Even my 1 year-old appreciates the beats and rhythm and bops along. I am thrilled to have a new CD in the lineup that doesn’t constantly sing about farm animals, little stars or wheels on a bus (not that I have anything against those, they just get repetitive sometimes!). I keep it in the car and find myself listening to it with or without the kids. There are certain songs where I even prefer the Kidz Bop album, as I don’t think explicit language is needed in song lyrics and I enjoy the clean nature of the edited version.
This CD is great for kids of all ages. I will definitely be on the lookout for their new releases so my children can keep current with pop music but in a non-offensive manner. I highly recommend adding Kidz Bop 28 to your collection. These CDs would also make great gifts!
