InterAct Story Theatre is launching their sixth annual Wheaton Family Theatre Series this weekend and is encouraging parents and children to celebrate the new year through dance and song. Last season was cut short due to COVID-19, so this year they’ve gotten creative and taken their events virtual.

The first program, “A Family Literacy Fiesta!” with Ali Oliver-Krueger, the theater’s director, will use movement, drama and song to explore folk tales. A new program will be held for one weekend each month until June, with dancing, crafts, workshops and performances by actors and teachers.

During the Virtual KidStory Theatre Festival taking place throughout May, InterAct artists will use their talents to bring stories written by kids in the theater’s drama and creative writing program to life.

“A Family Literacy Fiesta!” takes place on Saturday, Jan. 9 at 11 a.m. and Sunday, Jan. 10 at 2 p.m. Registration is free and can be found on their website at interactstory.com. Ages 3+.
