Meet other local families for a day of Fourth of July fun including specialty crafts, music, food and more at a free event at the Capital Jewish Museum in Washington, D.C.

This family Independence Day celebration will be held on the museum’s newly opened rooftop terrace on Thursday, July 4, from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Activities were designed with children ages 3 to 10 in mind. Families will have the opportunity to learn about Jewish Revolutionary War history from representatives from the National Museum of American Jewish Military History.

Kids will receive a goody bag with an activity book, glowsticks and more to enjoy during the fireworks. Refreshments will be available for purchase on site through Catalyst Hot Dogs. Look ahead at Catalyst Hot Dogs food truck menu here.

Families can also explore the tradition of mezuzahs for the home as they decorate mezuzah cases with MyZuzah, a program that works to distribute mezuzahs to Jewish homes. A mezuzah is a written scroll that contains portions from the Torah, kept in a small protective case and fixed to doorways.

While this family event is free, registration is encouraged to ensure there are enough supplies for everyone to have a good time. Register online at capitaljewishmuseum.org.
