One of my favorite parts of having a little girl is dressing her up, especially for holidays. This Easter was early and cold, but we still wanted a traditional, spring dress. Feltman Brother’s Bouquet collection provided a beautiful choice for the holiday. Their heirloom style clothing provides traditional styles that can be handed down through families throughout the years.
The dress we received was the A-line Pleated Dress with Flysleeve, a pink dress made of a lightweight polyester and cotton mix. It has a white peter pan collar and a white contrast hem at the bottom, each adorned with hand-embroidered flower bouquets. The top of the dress has pin tucks that flow into pleats on the skirt which are adorable and a nice finishing touch.
My favorite part was the flutter sleeve. There is nothing more girly than a whimsical sleeve on a dress, adding ruffles and fun! My little one looked adorable in the dress running around and posing for a few pictures. It flows gracefully during toddler twirls and dancing without flipping up, and provides a perfect dressy look. As far as fit, the dress seems to run true to size. My daughter wears a 3T in most brands, and the 3T Feltman Brothers dress fit well, with even a little room to spare.
Caring for the dress is easy as well, no dry cleaning necessary! The dress can simply be washed in warm water on the delicate cycle and hung to dry. A quick press with an iron on low heat got our dress back to brand new condition.
However, I had two criticisms of the dress: First was the material. While pretty, lightweight and easy to care for, the material is quite see-through and stiff, something I did not expect with such a high-quality product. My daughter complained after a bit about the dress being “scratchy” against her arms. Also, the dress only comes with a matching diaper cover/panty in 3, 6 and 9-month sizes, leaving my 3T wearing 2-year old with a showing diaper. White tights were needed to cover it up, and while not a big deal, I would have preferred the dress have the matching diaper cover option to complete the look.
Feltman Brothers is celebrating its 100 year anniversary of manufacturing high-quality, hand-embroidered and expertly tailored baby and toddler clothing. While browsing around their website for other offerings, I came across many styles that have a vintage, look, that are perfect for special occasions, holidays and photo shoots. All of the clothing includes special touches such as the hand embroidery found in the Bouquet dress, smocking and French lace.
These clothes are not ideal for everyday use, especially with their price point. However, their new collection, the Pima Cotton Layette, has a few everyday options for infants. It is made from Peruvian cotton and claims to last longer through more wearing and washings, while being an eco-friendly choice for baby garments. If you are looking for a special clothing gift that can be passed on through families as an heirloom, Feltman Brothers is a great label to check out.
