Celebrate Dad: 10 Father’s Day Events

1. Father’s Day Early Brunch Cruise

11 a.m.-1 p.m., Pier 4, Water Street SW, Washington, D.C.

Treat dad to something different this Father’s Day aboard Spirit of Washington, and see the city from a whole new perspective. With a festive buffet, engaging DJ entertainment and incredible views of D.C.’s historic waterfront from the largest outdoor deck in town, it’ll be an experience he will always remember.

2. Father’s Day at Gadsby’s Tavern Museum

9 a.m.-5 p.m., 134 N Royal St., Alexandria, VA

If dad is a history buff, celebrate Father’s Day where our Founding Fathers ate, drank and influenced history. “General Washington” will be greeting visitors and posing for photographs all day.

3. Old Town Manassas Wine and Jazz Festival

12-7 p.m., Manassas Museum Lawn, 9101 Prince William St., Manassas, VA

Enjoy a full day of live jazz performances and delicious food. Bring a lawn chair or blanket to relax on the pavilion lawn with a bottle of wine and lunch from the gourmet food concessions. Reps from award-winning Virginia wineries will also be on hand to discuss their wines with visitors.

4. Movies on the Potomac: Maleficent

6-8 p.m., Plaza, National Harbor, MD

Nothing says summer like an evening under the stars—and there’s no better way to enjoy the season (and Father’s Day!) than Movies on the Potomac at National Harbor. Pack your chairs, grab food from one of their delicious dining establishments and meet at the plaza screen for a free evening of fun for all ages!

5. Father’s Day Celebration at Colvin Run Mill

12-4 p.m.,10017 Colvin Run Rd., Great Falls, VA

Treat dad to a free wood-carving lesson with Northern Virginia Carvers. Nominal charge for wood blanks. Free mill tours for all dads accompanied by their children.

6. Father’s Day at Gray Ghost Vineyards & Winery

11 a.m. – 5 p.m., 14706 Lee Highway, Amissville, VA

Bring dad to Gray Ghost Vineyard & Winery for free wine tastings, live music, winery tours and gourmet box lunches.

7. Crystal City Father’s Day Auto Festival

2-6 p.m., 2121 Crystal Drive & 220 20th St. South Surface Parking Lot, Crystal City, VA

The event will showcase a variety of automobile categories including innovative electric vehicles, sports cars, classic muscle cars and more. There will be activities for kids, a beer-wine garden and live music.

8. Father’s Day 8K

9 a.m., Start and finish at Fletcher’s Cove Boathouse, 4940 Canal Rd. NW, Washington, D.C.

The 7th annual edition of the race will take place along the C&O Canal Towpath. All runners who register by June 4 will be provided a technical race shirt, and awards will be given out at the post-race celebration to the top three male/female overall finishers, the top male/female in each 10-year age group and the top father-son and father-daughter teams.

9. Father’s Day Fish-a-Rama

9 a.m., Great Country Farms, 18780 Foggy Bottom Rd., Bluemont, VA

If all dad wants for Father’s Day is to relax and fish with the family, then Fish-a-Rama is a must! Treat Dad to a fun-filled weekend with BBQ and catch-and-release fishing. Compete in our Fish-a-Rama contest, fishing for catfish, bass and blue gill in our stocked ponds.

10. Father’s Day Fun at Pirate Adventures on the Chesapeake

9:30 a.m.; 11 a.m.; 12:30 p.m.; 2 p.m.; 3:30 p.m. and 5 p.m., 311 Third St., Annapolis, MD

Treat the whole family to a pirate adventure aboard the pirate ship Sea Gypsy for Father’s Day family fun. Father’s and grandfather’s ride for free. Face-painting, costumes, pirate slang lessons, treasure hunting and more!
