Thursday, December 19

Wiggle Time Guided movement and play enhance comprehension for little ones at this engaging story time. Francis A. Gregory Library, Washington, DC at 10:30 a.m. FREE

Santa Technology Workshop Design and decorate your very own 3D-printed ornament! All proceeds benefit Enable Alliance, a local nonprofit that uses 3D printers to create free prosthetics for children missing upper limbs. Gaylord National Resort, Oxen Hill, MD from 1-8 p.m. $5-$10.


Friday, December 20

Holiday Hoops Fest This tournament-style event features eight college basketball teams, including Towson University, battling it out over the course of three days. Entertainment and Sports Arena, Washington, DC at 2:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. $10-$65

Step Afrika! Magical Musical Holiday Step Show The entire family will be stomping their feet and clapping their hands along with the internationally-acclaimed percussive dance company. Arrive early for an instrument-making workshop before the show. Atlas Performing Arts Center, Washington, DC at 7:30 p.m. $25-$45

Saturday, December 21

Ride The Capital Wheel with Santa Santa Claus will be down at the National Harbor one last time this season to pose for photos, receive wish lists and, if you’re lucky, and ride the Ferris wheel with your family! The Capital Wheel, National Harbor, MD from 12-4 p.m. $11.25-$15 (FREE for kids 2 and under)

Gingerbreadpalooza Take a kid-friendly architecture tour around this historic home, enjoy a quick story time and then design your own gingerbread house, cottage or mansion to take home. Tudor Place, Washington, D.C. at noon and 2 p.m. $5-$15

Joy of Christmas Following a concert of beloved Christmas tunes, the Cathedral Choral Society leads the audience in a rousing carol sing-along at this annual event.  Washington National Cathedral, Washington, DC at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. $25-$82.50

Sunday, December 22

“Snow Queen” In this family-friendly play, a little girl ventures across far lands with a magic mirror to save her best friend from the Snow Queen. Synetic Theater, Arlington, VA at 4 p.m. $15-$30 

Chanukah Family Fun Fest Kids in kindergarten through middle school will have a blast participating in improvisational games and a game show that’ll test their knowledge of Chanukah and put them through physical challenges. A festive menorah lighting follows. Pozez JCC, Fairfax, VA from 2-5 p.m. $15 per family before December 21 or $20 per family at the door

Menorah Lighting Ceremony Stop by Dawson’s Market for an arts & crafts project before enjoying the outdoor lighting ceremony at 5 p.m. Stay for live music, donuts and latkes and a magician, too! Rockville Town Square, Rockville, MD at 4 p.m. FREE
