Summer Movie Nights at Stonebridge-

Schedule: Saturdays, May-August
Films: Kid friendly choices, including “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”
Why do it: While it’s unusual for the developer to fund this, Roadside said it wanted to create a sense of community
Screen on the Green-
Location: National Mall
Sponsor: HBO and Comcast
Schedule: 4 Mondays in July and August
Films: A celebration of American classics which this year includes “ET: The Extra Terrestrial” and “Tootsie.”
Why do it: The fans would up and revolt otherwise!

River Concert Series-
St. Mary’s College of Maryland’s River Concert Series, winner of the Maryland Tourism Impact Award, is designed to provide the citizens of Southern Maryland with high-quality, professional performances throughout the summer, enriching the cultural offerings of our region while raising the profile of Southern Maryland throughout the state. Juneteenth Celebration-
Juneteenth is the oldest, nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States. On June 19, 186, General Granger of the Union Army landed in Texas and issued General Order No. 3: ALL SLAVES ARE FREE. The day will feature a 5K race, and gospel, funk and pop music at Lexington Park’s Freedom Park. Watkins Regional Park in Prince George’s County offers dance and musical performances, including traditional African dance with contemporary military movements.

Seas, Lakes, and Bay: US Naval Academy Exhibit Walking Tour-
The US Naval Academy in Annapolis recently opened Seas, Lakes, and Bay: The Naval War of 1912– a free exhibit that showcases hundreds of items from the Naval Academy Museum and 86 items on loan from the collection of American businessman and sailor William I Koch. The items include artifacts from the two first naval vessels engaged in the war.

Civil War Comes to Rockville-
A day of free activities and programs marks the 150 year anniversary of Confederate General J.E.B. Stuart’s march through town en route to Gettysburg. Events include an encampment at Beall-Dawson Park, a concert by the Federal City Brass Band at Courthouse Square and country-dance performers at the town square.

Delmarva Chicken Festival-

A giant frying pan cooks up tons of chicken for visitors to this annual celebration of the region’s poultry industry in Byrd Park in downtown Snow Hill. The festival includes live music, boat rides, a 5K run/walk, arts and crafts, car show, and juggling demonstrations. Admission is FREE.
