15 No-Nonsense Success Strategies for Entrepreneurial Women
Part III of III
By Janice M. Copeland
There are myriad resources for the budding to experienced
entrepreneur on a mission to success:
Web sites, magazines, books, workshops and more. All of this
information can be quite confusing and overwhelming to say the
least.
After exhaustive research, I have identified 15 consistent success
strategies that have been implemented by entrepreneurs who have gone
on to experience big success with their businesses.
This is the last month of this series. We will review the 11th-15th
success strategies.
Once again, I encourage you to get your reading glasses on and
truly absorb these strategies so you will be able to create a plan
of action in which you can implement to ensure your business’
success!
11. Don’t expect perfection. One of the biggest issues women face
today is perfectionism. It gets in the way of truly enjoying our
every aspect of our lives, including our businesses. I encourage you
to join me in letting go of your desire for perfection. Instead,
strive for excellence in all that you do. This will enable you to
shoot excitedly for the realistic goals and forget about the
impossible goal of perfection. None of us will ever achieve
perfection, so let’s encourage each other to let that fallacy go and
start enjoying the real life we have to live.
12. Be Bold. It amazes me that some of us, as business owners, are
too shy to ask for the sale… or too shy to really wow people at
networking events with something different about us. In order to be
successful, you will need to do some things that feel foreign to
you. You will need to be bold! This does not mean forcing your
products or services down someone’s throat, but rather getting out
there in the marketplace and creating a buzz about you…getting out
there and being memorable… getting out there and speaking excitedly
about your offerings. You should be bursting with excitement over
what you can offer your prospects! When we are bold, we command
respect and attention from others, which turns into a successful
business.
13. You must not compare. Okay, let’s just admit that whether we
like it or not, we do find ourselves comparing ourselves to others.
Successful entrepreneurs are not spending their precious time
comparing themselves to others. Instead they are focused on what is
next for them. They remain centered on the details of their business
and are not weighed down with the comparison game. Join me in
committing to cease all of the comparing. We already know each of us
was made to be unique. Let’s embrace that and move at our own pace.
Let’s take this tip to heart and stop comparing our business, our
looks, or even our business cards to anyone else! We will surely be
the better for it!
14. You must seek out alliances and partnerships. Every successful
business, whether small or large, seeks out alliances and
partnerships with other companies whose products either enhances
their product offering or who share the same ideal client. When we
pull our strengths and contacts together, both will win. It goes
back to the principle of asking for help and or seeking out a mentor
to facilitate our path to success. Stop and think with pen and paper
in hand about whom you serve. Where do they go? How do they spend
their days? What are their hobbies? Do they have families? Once you
have identified who your ideal client is, it’s time to think about
whom else might share that ideal client. Brainstorm a list. Then
think about who you have met who fits into this mold and proactively
approach them with your alliance idea. You could co-facilitate a
workshop, hold a trunk show, and/or a million other ideas. The fact
of the matter is that you can’t be as successful alone as you could
be when you partner with others!
15. You must never give up! If there’s only one thing you take away
from this article, it should definitely be this: never give up!
There are countless success stories that started out as horror
stories with everything going wrong. But what enabled those
seemingly failed businesses to survive and thrive was their owner’s
ability to hang in there and never give up! It has been said that
anything can happen when someone wants it bad enough. Too many
times, people are willing to give up their dream because the road
has become too difficult. I want to close this article with some
encouragement to you. If you love what you are doing, but it all
seems so hard and unrewarding now, stop, and think about how badly
you want to see this through to success. If your desire is strong
enough, then turn on your tenacity and hang in there. Who knows?
Maybe 2, 3 or 4 years from now, you could be even more successful in
your business than you ever dreamed! At least, that is my hope for
you!
