MOM NOTES MARCH 2008
Congratulations to the Winners of the Kid’s Art Contest
If winter leaves early (as we hope it will), then we will
begin to see the signs of spring. Little plants will creep
out of the frozen soil to reveal beautiful flowers. Leaves
on the trees will begin to unfurl. Children will shed their
hats and mittens.
This spring we are very happy to have something new and
exciting in our March issue. This month marks the fourth
year for our annual Kid’s Art Contest. The winning young
artist, Anna L.’s artwork is featured on our cover.
Congratulations to Anna! You’ll find winners in the various
age categories on page 114.
We are thrilled by all of the entries in the contest. We
received art from children as young as five and as old as
eighteen. It was so much fun see the variety of creations
and perspectives. We want to congratulate all of the
children who were brave enough to send us their art. We
think they are all wonderful and wish we could feature each
and every one.
Be sure to check out all of the winners and runners up on
pages 114 and 115 of this issue. Also visit our web site (www.washingtonfamily.com),
where we will be showcasing this year’s contest artwork
along with winners from past contests. Imagination and
creativity are clearly seen in all the entries. Thanks to
all who participated. We hope you had as much fun creating
the art as we did in choosing this year’s winners.
Much like the contest entries have brightened the walls of
our office this winter, my refrigerator has always been home
to the beautiful art created by my children, and now my two
grandchildren. I just love to have their drawings and
creations where I can see them each day. For many years, I
had an entire wall covered with artwork in my office. It
really livened up the room. A friend of mine has even turned
an entire wall of her garage into an art gallery. It’s great
to drive up to her garage and see the creativity and
imagination of her children. I love it.
The creations our children bring home are not always Monets
or Picassos, but because our children created them, we
always see a masterpiece. A child’s personality and
character really embellishes their works of art.
We hope that this kaleidoscope of art brightens your March.
‘Til April and the Annual Party Extravaganza, Happy
Parenting!
