Dear Readers,
We’re celebrating 15 Years!
2006 has finally arrived and all of us at FAMILIES
Magazine are excited about what a great year it is
going to be. It is an important year to us because
we will have been publishing FAMILIES for 15 years.
Yes, 15 years.
It is hard to believe. The time has gone by so very
fast that it certainly does not seem like this
milestone could be upon us so quickly. But 2006
marks the 15th year since we created our publication
designed for active parents.
“Growing” this publication has sort of been like
raising a child. In fact, I often describe our
monthly production of FAMILIES like giving birth.
You work for many months gathering the articles,
finding the resources, selling the advertising and
then putting it all together into a wonderful
package. We “labor” over every issue. Although it is
not physically as painful, it certainly is a great
deal of work. Then it is printed and comes back to
us as a pretty bundle of information. We spread it
out all over, putting it into the hands of parents
who are interested in the best for their children.
They often come back to us and tell us how much they
like FAMILIES and how important it is in the life of
their family. This makes us very proud.
15 years ago, when the first issue of FAMILIES was
in the planning stages (our very first issue came
out in April), I never dreamed it would become the
great resource that it is today. This is sort of
like how I felt when I had my first child. I really
had no idea the wonderful experience I was embarking
on. Just like raising my four beautiful children,
“raising” FAMILIES has been, surprisingly, an
exceptionally rewarding experience. And, the rewards
have been unexpected. I am so very lucky to do two
things I truly love, parent my children and publish
FAMLIES Magazine. Both have been challenging AND
REWARDING beyond my expectations.
So, as we enter our 15th year, we want to show our
appreciation to all the people and companies that
have made this journey possible. There is no way we
could have done what we have done without all the
support from both our loyal readers and our
sustaining advertisers. We have planned many
celebrations throughout 2006, which we hope will be
a fun and rewarding way for us to say "thank you" to
all that have assisted and encourage us along the
way.
Thanks! ‘Til February, Happy Parenting.
Brenda
