Dear Readers,
March can be such a wonderful month. If winter
leaves early (as we hope it will), then we will
begin to see the signs of spring. Little plants
creep out of the frozen soil to reveal beautiful
flowers. This spring we are very happy to have
something new and exciting in our March issue. This
month marks the premier of our first annual Kid’s
Art Contest. On pages 12 and 14 you’ll find the
winners in the contest. On the cover we have
featured the artwork of Laura Ji, 10 years old of
Fairfax, VA. Congratulations to Laura for being the
winner of the 10 and above age group! Her beautiful
pastel drawing of lily pads is quite vibrant.
We were just thrilled at all the entries in the
contest. We received art from children as young as
three and as old as 14. It was so much fun to go
through all the art and see the variety of their
creations.
My refrigerator has always been home to the
beautiful art created by my children and now, my two
grandchildren. I just love to have their drawings
and creations where I can see them each day. For
many years, I had an entire wall covered with
artwork in my office. It really livened up the room.
A friend of mine even turned an entire wall of her
garage into an art gallery. It’s great to drive up
to her garage and see all the creativity and
imagination of her children. I love it.
The creations our children bring home are not always
Monets or Picassos, but because our child created
it, we always see a masterpiece. A child’s
personality and character really embellishes their
works of art.
We want to congratulate all of the children who were
brave enough to send us their creations. We think
they are all wonderful and wish we could feature
each and every one. Be sure to check out all the
winners on pages 12 and 14 of this issue and visit
our web site where we will also be showcasing their
art. Imagination and creativity are clearly seen in
all the entries. Thanks to all who participated. We
hope you had as much fun creating the art as we did
in choosing this year’s winners.
‘Til April, Happy Parenting!
