America’s “Most Perfect
Village” - Cooperstown, NY
For many reasons, the village of Cooperstown, NY is a favorite
destination for families seeking a getaway that is both educational
and fun-packed. This culturally-rich repository of Americana offers
unique, family-friendly activities not available in theme parks or
big cities. Located about 60 miles from Albany on the shores of Lake
Otsego, educational, historical and cultural attractions for all
ages abound. Here the country’s past is traced and preserved by the
village’s renowned cultural institutions - and by the town itself.
Some of Cooperstown’s educationally-rich and kid-friendly
institutions include:
The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum
At the National Baseball Hall of Fame, families trace the evolution
of baseball from a simple game played on rural pastures and urban
sandlots to America’s favorite sport, and in the process, learn
about our nation’s change and development throughout the years. The
Sandlot Kids’ Club at the National Baseball Hall of Fame is a
special educational program designed for children ages 5 – 12.
Children who join the club receive a Sandlot Kids’ Club button, a
passport to keep track of events they attend, and can participate in
a series of interactive events throughout the year, culminating in a
November pizza party, featuring a special Hall of Fame surprise!
